Is the Glass Half Empty ?

In the gloomy aftermath of another disappointing loss, San Diego Charger Coach, Norv Turner coined the old Dennis Green phrase, “They were who we thought they were?" However, are the 2011 San Diego Chargers the team most people think they are?

In overtime, Ted Tebow led the Denver Broncos to another impression come from behind victory over the floundering San Diego Chargers. Other the last six games, he has shown promise that the Denver Broncos may have another great closer in town.

Some are speculating that this sixth straight loss for the Chargers may be curtains for Norv Turner and company. Phillip Rivers is not getting much love these days, either. Almost everyone seems to have an opinion of what’s wrong with the team. Some fans want to see the team dismantled and rebuilt a.s.a.p.

However, we must remember? This is a team that was 4-1 a short while ago. Another thing to consider is the Chargers are only 3 games out of first place.Things could possibly turn around for them.

Normally, I would be riding on the diss bandwagon like most fans right now. However, I did see elements in the Denver game that give me a glimmer of hope that this team can turn it around

Personally, I have felt that the main cause of the Charger offensive woes was a lack of an adequate running game. Last week, I said Ryan Matthews has not been the answer. I even went on to say that I didn’t think he would ever be the type of running back that makes defenses respect the long run. This week, he stepped up and delivered a 134 yard rushing performance.I hope he proves this old hack wrong. I hope he continues to develop into the back the Chargers paid for.

This week, the Chargers showed they are a team that can hold their own with a hot team. Even with some of the problems they are having, the Chargers could have come up with a “W” in Week 12. They had a few tough breaks on field goals. Norv Turner chose to be conservative a certain points when some believe he shouldn’t have. If he had allowed the offense to go for it, the outcome may have been quite different.

Next Monday night, Norv Turner will get a chance to make better decisions, and possibly, save his job. His Charger teams have done it in the past. It’s easy to bash a coach’s play calling during a losing streak. However, his stewardship has gotten the Chargers into a few conference championship games.Posting wins for the rest of the season would make the dark cloud over the team disappear. The play-offs are like a new season.Anything can happen

O the fat lady has sung. 9-7 will not get you a playoff berth in today's NFL. San Diego is already 4-7. It's a wrap.

You've right. I must admit.
